What is the name of Nintendo’s subscription service that includes classic NES and SNES games on Switch?

Nintendo Switch Online is the subscription service that includes classic NES and SNES games on Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo launched the service in September 2018 as the paid online membership for Switch. Its benefits include online multiplayer in compatible games, cloud saves for supported titles, and access to a growing library of classic games.

The NES library became available at launch, while SNES games were added in September 2019. Nintendo later placed additional retro libraries, including Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance collections, behind the higher-priced Expansion Pack tier.

Virtual Console is the name Nintendo used for earlier downloadable classic-game services on systems such as Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS. It is not the official name of the Switch subscription. My Nintendo is a separate rewards program.
