What is the name of Lovecraft's wife?

The story behind the answer

H. P. Lovecraft's wife was Sonia Greene. They married in New York City on March 3, 1924, after meeting at an amateur press convention in Boston in 1921.

Greene was a writer, publisher, businesswoman, and milliner who supported amateur journalism and helped finance fan publications. She was older than Lovecraft and had already been married once; her daughter, Florence Carol, later became journalist Carol Weld.

The marriage was strained by financial problems and Lovecraft's inability to find steady work in New York. Greene moved to Cleveland for employment while Lovecraft remained in Brooklyn. They separated in the early 1930s, and although they agreed to divorce, the final decree was never completed.

A common mix-up is Greene's later name, Sonia H. Davis. She married Nathaniel Davis in 1936, but her connection to Lovecraft is documented under Sonia Greene, also known as Sonia Haft Greene and Sonia Davis.
