What is the name of Lillehammer’s Olympic ski-jumping hill?

The story behind the answer

Lysgårdsbakken is the name of Lillehammer’s Olympic ski-jumping hill.

The complex in Norway contains a large hill and a normal hill and was built for the 1994 Winter Olympics. Its prominent location above Lillehammer made it one of the visual landmarks of those Games. The larger hill is used for major competitions, while the smaller hill supports training and additional events.

Ski jumping scoring combines distance with judges’ marks for style. Wind and gate compensation have also been incorporated into modern scoring systems, although the basic aim remains to land as far down the hill as possible while maintaining control.

Lysgårdsbakken is sometimes confused with Oslo’s Holmenkollbakken, another famous Norwegian venue. Holmenkollen hosts the historic Holmenkollen Ski Festival, while Lysgårdsbakken is Lillehammer’s Olympic jumping complex.
