Answer
The Tales of Beedle the Bard
J.K. Rowling’s 2008 charity book of wizarding fairy tales is The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
The book contains five tales supposedly translated from ancient runes by Hermione Granger. In the Harry Potter story, Albus Dumbledore adds notes explaining how wizarding readers interpret the tales. One story, “The Tale of the Three Brothers,” is especially important because it introduces the Deathly Hallows.
Rowling wrote and illustrated the original handwritten edition, which was auctioned in 2007. Six copies were made for people closely connected with the books, and a seventh was sold to raise money for charity.
A commercial edition followed in 2008, with proceeds supporting the Children’s High Level Group, later renamed Lumos. The title is therefore both a fictional in-world collection and a real charitable publication.
