What is the name of Indiana Jones' father?
Answer
Henry Jones Sr.
Answer
Henry Jones Sr.
Indiana Jones' father is Henry Jones Sr., formally Professor Henry Walton Jones, Sr.
Henry Jones Sr. is a fictional Scottish professor of medieval studies and the father of archaeologist Indiana Jones. His greatest scholarly obsession is the Holy Grail, which drives much of the story in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. He is portrayed as intensely bookish, cautious, and uncomfortable with his son's frequent use of violence.
The character first appeared in the 1989 film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, where Sean Connery played him opposite Harrison Ford. Their relationship is strained because Henry's academic priorities and emotional distance helped create a gulf between father and son, although their shared fascination with history eventually brings them together.
Henry Jones Sr. should not be confused with Abner Ravenwood, who was Indiana's mentor and Marion Ravenwood's father. Sallah and Marcus Brody are also important allies in the series, but neither is Indiana's parent. In the film's backstory, Henry was born in Scotland on December 12, 1872, studied at Oxford, and later became associated with Princeton University.
