Google’s emoji combination feature is called Emoji Kitchen.
Emoji Kitchen lets users combine selected emoji into custom sticker-like designs. It began as an experimental feature associated with Gboard and Android, allowing combinations that were not represented by a single standard Unicode character.
The resulting images are generally stickers or graphic suggestions rather than new Unicode characters. This distinction matters: Unicode controls the encoded emoji repertoire, while a keyboard or app can create additional visual combinations without adding them to the standard.
Availability and supported combinations have changed over time as Google expanded the feature. Because Emoji Kitchen is a Google product feature, its designs and behavior are separate from Apple’s, Microsoft’s, or other vendors’ emoji artwork.
