What is the name of Elrond's wife?
Answer
Celebrían
Answer
Celebrían
Elrond’s wife was Celebrían, the daughter of Celeborn and Galadriel. Their marriage united the lord of Rivendell with one of the most prominent Elven families of Lothlórien.
Celebrían and Elrond had three children: the twin sons Elladan and Elrohir, and their daughter Arwen. Through Arwen, Celebrían became the mother-in-law of Aragorn, who later reunited the kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor. She was also an ancestor of important figures in the long history of Middle-earth through her descendants.
Celebrían’s story takes a tragic turn during the Third Age. While travelling through the Misty Mountains toward Lothlórien, she was captured and tormented by Orcs, receiving a poisoned wound. Her sons rescued her, and Elrond healed her body, but the trauma left her unable to find joy in Middle-earth.
The names in the answer choices are common sources of confusion. Galadriel was Celebrían’s mother, Arwen was her daughter, and Lúthien belonged to an earlier age. Celebrían eventually sailed west to Valinor; Elrond followed after the War of the Ring.
