Arya Stark’s sword in "Game of Thrones" is Needle.
Jon Snow gives Arya the slender sword before she leaves Winterfell for King’s Landing. Arya names it Needle as a joke about Sansa’s love of sewing, but the name also reflects the weapon’s narrow blade and her fast, precise fighting style.
Unlike the heavy swords favored by many Westerosi warriors, Needle is designed for speed and thrusting. Arya trains with Syrio Forel, who teaches her the Braavosi water-dancing style: staying light on her feet, watching an opponent closely, and striking quickly rather than relying on brute strength.
Needle is taken from Arya during the journey north after the royal party breaks apart, but she eventually recovers it. It remains closely associated with her identity throughout the story. A common mix-up is confusing Needle with Ice, the great Valyrian sword once owned by Arya’s father, Ned Stark; Ice is later reforged into other weapons.
