What is the name of Altaïr's first assassination target in the original Assassin's Creed?

The story behind the answer

Tamir is Altaïr's first assassination target in the original Assassin's Creed. He is a Damascus-based arms merchant and one of the nine major targets Altaïr must eliminate after being demoted within the Assassin Brotherhood.

At the beginning of the game, Altaïr breaks the Brotherhood's rules during a failed mission at Solomon's Temple. Al Mualim strips him of his rank and requires him to regain his status by completing a sequence of assassinations. Tamir is the first target in that process.

Altaïr investigates Tamir in Damascus by gathering information before carrying out the assassination. This structure introduces the game's recurring pattern of reconnaissance, social stealth, rooftop movement, and a final targeted kill.

Tamir is sometimes confused with Robert de Sablé, the Grand Master of the Templars and the final major target, or William of Montferrat, another target in Acre. Majd Addin is also a target, but he is located in Jerusalem and appears later in the sequence.
