La Sarenne is the 16-kilometre ski run descending from the Pic Blanc area at Alpe d’Huez.
The piste is famous for its exceptional length and begins at roughly 3,330 metres before descending toward the resort. Its route combines high-alpine terrain with lower sections and is often described as one of Europe’s longest marked ski runs.
La Sarenne is not the same as La Face de Sarenne, a separate steep piste associated with the 1992 Albertville Olympic downhill races. The names can cause confusion because both runs are linked to the Sarenne sector.
Snow conditions, operating dates and the precise way a run is measured can affect published length claims. Even so, the 16-kilometre figure is the standard fact associated with La Sarenne and explains its reputation among advanced recreational skiers.
