What is the name for the pre-show area at Monster Jam events where fans can view trucks up close?

The story behind the answer

What is the name for the pre-show area at Monster Jam events where fans can view trucks up close? It is called the Pit Party.

The Pit Party is a fan-access experience held before many Monster Jam shows. It gives ticketed guests an opportunity to see the massive trucks at close range, meet drivers and crew members, take photographs, collect autographs, and enjoy family-oriented activities.

The experience is not the competition itself. Depending on the venue, it may take place on the arena floor, on the dirt track, or in a designated area outside a stadium. Arena shows commonly use the event floor, while stadium shows often place the Pit Party in a nearby parking area.

Monster Jam trucks are roughly 12,000 pounds, so the Pit Party also gives fans a better look at their scale and construction than they can get from the grandstands. A common mix-up is calling it “Trackside,” but Trackside is a separate pre-event presentation that can include driver interviews, competition previews, and truck introductions. Pit Party access normally requires a separate pass along with a ticket to the main event.
