The model number of the original Nintendo Switch console released in 2017 is HAC-001.
Nintendo used HAC-001 for the launch Switch hardware, including the tablet-style console that can be used handheld, in tabletop mode, or in a dock. The number appears on the rear of the console and in product documentation.
The revised 2019 Switch, which improved battery life, is commonly identified as HAC-001(-01). That distinction can cause confusion because both systems are marketed simply as Nintendo Switch. The model number is therefore more precise than the console's retail name.
Nintendo later introduced the Switch Lite, model HDH-001, and the OLED Model, model HEG-001. Those identifiers refer to different hardware designs rather than software editions or regional versions.
