Four is the maximum number of entrepreneurs who can normally pitch together in one Dragons' Den presentation. The programme permits a team of up to four people to enter and present a business proposal to the investor panel.
Teams appear on the show for many reasons. A product may have been developed by co-founders, a family business may be represented by relatives, or different members may handle product development, sales and finance. The format therefore accommodates more than the lone-founder pitch often associated with business television.
This limit concerns the people presenting a single opportunity, not the number of Dragons sitting in the room. It also does not mean that every episode includes a four-person team; many pitches involve one entrepreneur or a smaller group.
The phrase “normally pitch together” reflects the programme format rather than a universal rule for all business presentations. Production circumstances and special episodes can vary, but the standard Dragons' Den format sets four as the upper team size used for a presentation.
