The maximum level in Battle for Azeroth was 120. Blizzard’s seventh World of Warcraft expansion launched in August 2018 and raised the previous level cap of 110 from Legion by ten levels.
Players progressed through the expansion’s two main continents, Kul Tiras and Zandalar, while completing faction storylines, quests, dungeons, raids, and War Campaign content. Alliance characters initially focused on Kul Tiras, while Horde characters began in Zandalar, although both continents became available as characters advanced.
The level increase followed the pattern established by earlier expansions: The Burning Crusade raised the original cap to 70, Wrath of the Lich King to 80, Cataclysm to 85, Mists of Pandaria to 90, Warlords of Draenor to 100, and Legion to 110. Battle for Azeroth continued that progression to 120.
A frequent source of confusion is the later Shadowlands level squish. When Shadowlands launched, characters at Battle for Azeroth’s level-120 cap were reduced to level 50, so 120 remains the correct historical maximum for Battle for Azeroth even though it is no longer the game’s current level cap.
