What is the in-game currency used in Gran Turismo?

The story behind the answer

The in-game currency used in Gran Turismo is called credits. Players generally earn credits by completing races, championships, and other driving activities, then spend them on cars, upgrades, tuning parts, and maintenance-related services.

Credits have been part of the series since the original Gran Turismo. Its Simulation Mode rewarded successful drivers with credits, trophies, and prize cars. That progression system helped turn each race into more than a competition: winnings could improve a player's garage and unlock stronger vehicles for later events.

The currency is fictional, so answers such as yen or dollars are not correct, even though many of the cars and manufacturers are real. “Points” is also too generic for the game's money system. Gran Turismo includes other numerical measures—such as driver ratings, licenses, mileage, and event rewards—but credits are the named currency used for purchases across the series.
