What is the homeworld of the Vulcans in Star Trek?
Answer
Vulcan
Answer
Vulcan
The homeworld of the Vulcans in Star Trek is Vulcan.
Vulcan is a fictional Class M planet known for its arid surface, intense heat, thin atmosphere, and lack of a moon. It is the birthplace of Spock and the ancient Vulcan civilization, whose people became famous for embracing logic and suppressing emotion under the teachings of Surak.
Vulcan was also central to the history of humanity's first contact with an extraterrestrial civilization. In Star Trek: Enterprise, Vulcans made formal first contact with humans in 2063, shortly after Zefram Cochrane's first warp flight. Vulcan later became one of the founding members of the United Federation of Planets.
A common mix-up is confusing Vulcan with Romulus, the homeworld of the Romulans. In the 32nd century, after Vulcans and Romulans reunified, the planet was renamed Ni'Var. In the alternate timeline of the 2009 film Star Trek, Vulcan is destroyed, and survivors establish a colony called New Vulcan.
