What is the historical city where most of Assassin's Creed Unity takes place?

The story behind the answer

Paris is the historical city where most of Assassin's Creed Unity takes place.

The game is set during the French Revolution, beginning in 1789. Players control Arno Dorian, who becomes involved with the Assassin Brotherhood while investigating the death of his adoptive father. Paris serves as the main open-world environment, with districts, landmarks, crowds, and revolutionary unrest shaping the adventure.

The story includes locations such as the Bastille, Notre-Dame, the Tuileries, and the Palace of Versailles. Versailles appears early and is an important location, but it is not the principal city represented by the game's largest playable environment.

Unity was designed for eighth-generation consoles and released in 2014. It is sometimes confused with Assassin's Creed Syndicate because both games focus on major European capitals. Syndicate is set mainly in London during the Industrial Revolution, whereas Unity's setting is revolutionary Paris.
