What is the highest point on Jamaica?

The story behind the answer

The highest point on Jamaica is Blue Mountain Peak.

Blue Mountain Peak rises to 2,256 metres (7,402 feet) in eastern Jamaica, within the Blue and John Crow Mountains. It is the summit of the Blue Mountains, a range famous for steep terrain, forests and coffee-growing districts.

The peak is a popular destination for hikers, although cloud, rain and rough trails can make the ascent demanding. On exceptionally clear days, views may extend toward the Caribbean Sea and, according to local descriptions, Cuba.

Blue Mountain Peak is sometimes confused with Mount Rosser, the highest point in Jamaica’s neighbouring Cockpit Country region. Mount Rosser is lower; Blue Mountain Peak is the island’s national high point and the better-known summit.
