What is the full name of James, the hero of Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach?

The hero of Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach is James Henry Trotter.

James Henry Trotter is an orphan who lives unhappily with his cruel aunts, Spiker and Sponge. After a strange magical event causes a peach to grow enormously, James enters the fruit and meets a group of giant insects who become his companions.

The novel was first published in 1961 and was Dahl’s first major children’s novel. Although the title usually refers to the hero simply as James, the full name appears in the story and distinguishes him from other fictional Jameses.

The book is often remembered for its ensemble of talking creatures, including a Centipede, a Ladybird and a Spider. It was adapted into a 1996 stop-motion and live-action film directed by Henry Selick.
