Answer
Mario
Answer
Mario
The first name of hockey’s Lemieux is Mario.
Mario Lemieux is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre who played most of his NHL career with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Born in Montreal, Quebec, on October 5, 1965, he became known by the nicknames “Super Mario” and “Le Magnifique” because of his extraordinary combination of size, speed, creativity and scoring ability.
The Penguins selected Lemieux first overall in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. He led Pittsburgh to consecutive Stanley Cup championships in 1991 and 1992, then later became part-owner of the franchise. Under his ownership, the Penguins won additional Cups in 2009, 2016 and 2017, making Lemieux the only person to have his name on the Stanley Cup as both a player and an owner.
His career included serious health problems, including Hodgkin lymphoma, and he retired twice before returning to the ice. Lemieux was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997. He is not related to Claude Lemieux, another prominent NHL player who shared his surname.
