What is the fictional language of Mordor in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings?

The story behind the answer

Black Speech is the fictional language associated with Mordor in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

Tolkien describes Black Speech as a language created by Sauron for the servants of Mordor. Its best-known surviving example is the inscription on the One Ring: “One Ring to rule them all,” written in the Tengwar script but expressed in Black Speech.

Black Speech is different from the writing system used to display it. Tengwar is a script, while Black Speech is a language. It is also distinct from Sindarin, a major Elvish language, and Westron, the common speech used by many peoples in the narrative. Tolkien did not provide a large complete vocabulary for Black Speech.
