Imladris is the Elvish name for Rivendell in J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium. The name is Sindarin and is commonly explained as referring to a deep valley or ravine cleft.

Rivendell is the hidden refuge founded and ruled by Elrond. It lies in a valley east of the Misty Mountains and becomes a major place of counsel in both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Bilbo stays there during his journey, and the Fellowship is formed there after the Council of Elrond.
