What is the dwarvish name for The Mines of Moria?

The story behind the answer

What is the Dwarvish name for the Mines of Moria? It is Khazad-dûm.

Khazad-dûm was the great underground realm and city of the Dwarves beneath the Misty Mountains. It contained extensive halls, tunnels, mines, and chambers.

The name Moria is the later Elvish name for the abandoned and ruined realm. It means “Black Pit” in Sindarin and became associated with the location after its decline.

Khazad-dûm is sometimes rendered in English as “Dwarrowdelf,” referring to the Dwarves’ great delving. “Khazhad-Dûm” is a misspelling; the standard form uses one h after the z and a lowercase û accent form: Khazad-dûm.
