What is the displacement (in liters) of the Lamborghini Aventador's V12 engine?

The story behind the answer

The Lamborghini Aventador’s V12 engine has a displacement of 6.5 liters. More precisely, the L539 engine measures 6,498 cubic centimeters, which is conventionally rounded to 6.5 liters in specifications and vehicle names.

The Aventador’s 60-degree, naturally aspirated V12 was an all-new Lamborghini design when the car launched in 2011. In the original LP 700-4, it produced 700 metric horsepower and 690 newton-metres of torque. The same basic 6.5-liter architecture continued through upgraded variants such as the Aventador S, SV, SVJ, and Ultimae, with power eventually rising to 780 metric horsepower.

The figure is easy to confuse with other Lamborghini engine sizes. The Huracán and Gallardo use V10 engines of about 5.2 liters, while the Urus uses a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8. The Aventador succeeded the Murciélago and remained in production from 2011 until 2022. Its successor, the Revuelto, also uses a 6.5-liter V12, but adds three electric motors and plug-in hybrid capability.
