What is the currency of New Zealand?
Answer
New Zealand dollar
Answer
New Zealand dollar
The currency of New Zealand is the New Zealand dollar.
The New Zealand dollar is the country’s official currency and legal tender. It is divided into 100 cents and is identified internationally by the ISO code NZD. Within New Zealand, prices commonly use the dollar sign, while NZ$ or $NZ may be used internationally to distinguish it from other dollar currencies.
New Zealand introduced the dollar on 10 July 1967, replacing the New Zealand pound. Decimalisation simplified the monetary system and aligned New Zealand with the increasingly common dollar-based systems used in several other countries. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand is the issuing authority.
The currency is often nicknamed the “kiwi” or “kiwi dollar,” a reference to the flightless kiwi bird depicted on the one-dollar coin. The New Zealand dollar is also used at par in places closely associated with New Zealand, including the Cook Islands and Niue, although those territories may issue their own local coins and notes.
