Armenelos is the capital city of Númenor in J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium.

Númenor was an island kingdom granted to Men who had supported the Elves during the First Age. Armenelos, also called the City of the Kings, stood at the heart of the kingdom and was associated with its royal power, monuments and later imperial ambitions.

The city’s history forms part of the Númenórean tragedy. As the island’s rulers became increasingly fearful of death, their relationship with the Valar and the Elves deteriorated. Under Ar-Pharazôn, Númenor challenged the power of the West, leading to the island’s destruction.

Armenelos should not be confused with Minas Tirith or Osgiliath, cities of Gondor in Middle-earth. Alqualondë is an Elvish haven in Aman, not a Númenórean capital.
