What is the capital city of Jamaica?
Answer
Kingston
Answer
Kingston
Kingston is the capital city of Jamaica.
The city lies on Jamaica’s southeastern coast beside one of the world’s largest natural harbours. It became the capital in 1872, replacing Spanish Town, which had served as the colonial capital. Kingston is now Jamaica’s largest urban centre and an important cultural, commercial, and governmental hub.
Kingston is closely associated with Jamaican music, especially reggae. Bob Marley’s former home and studio, now the Bob Marley Museum, is one of the city’s best-known attractions. The city also sits near the Blue Mountains, whose slopes rise sharply north of the metropolitan area.
Montego Bay is Jamaica’s major resort city, but it is not the national capital. Spanish Town remains historically important because it was Jamaica’s capital before the government moved to Kingston.
