The British version of the Dragon's Den format is called Shark Tank in the United States.
Shark Tank is the American business reality television adaptation in which entrepreneurs present companies to wealthy investors. Contestants seek money in exchange for an ownership stake, and the investors question their figures, products and valuations before deciding whether to make offers.
The British programme uses “dragons,” while the American version uses “sharks,” but the central pitch-and-negotiation structure is similar. The two shows have separate panels, presenters and production histories.
The Apprentice and The Profit are sometimes suggested because they also involve business, but neither is the American title for the Dragon’s Den format. Shark Tank is the specific United States adaptation and has become a major business television franchise in its own right.
