America Gives is the America250 initiative designed to promote nationwide volunteer service in 2026.
The program encourages individuals, nonprofits, businesses, schools, faith communities, and civic groups to participate in service activities. Its goal is to make volunteerism a central part of the Semiquincentennial rather than limiting the anniversary to ceremonies and entertainment.
America Gives is one of several major America250 programs. America’s Field Trip focuses on student essays and artwork, while America’s Startup is aimed at student entrepreneurs and future-oriented ideas. These programs have different audiences, so their names should not be treated as interchangeable.
The service initiative reflects a broader theme of connecting national remembrance with civic participation. By recording volunteer activity and promoting opportunities across the country, America Gives presents the anniversary as a chance to contribute to communities as well as to study the past.
