What is Professor Tangrowth's species in Pokémon Pokopia?

Professor Tangrowth is a Tangrowth in Pokémon Pokopia.

In the story, this Tangrowth studies the damaged environment and works to solve the mystery of why humans and Pokémon abandoned the region. Professor Tangrowth becomes an important companion and guide as Ditto restores habitats and helps Pokémon return to the world.

Tangrowth is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. Its design is based on a mass of blue vines, making it a fitting character for a game focused on vegetation, ecological recovery, and rebuilding natural spaces.

The character's title can cause confusion because “Professor” sounds like a human role in many Pokémon stories. In Pokopia, Professor Tangrowth is a Pokémon researcher, and the name identifies both the character's role and species. The game also features other named Pokémon with distinctive occupations and personalities.
