In Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon has Anakin’s blood tested after meeting him on Tatooine. The result shows a midichlorian level higher than any Jedi’s known count, including Yoda’s. Midichlorians are microscopic life-forms within living cells that allow beings to sense and connect with the Force, so the reading indicates exceptional Force potential.

The count is not the only reason Qui-Gon suspects Anakin fulfills the ancient prophecy.
