Andúril is J.R.R. Tolkien’s fictional sword that was reforged for Aragorn.
Andúril, meaning “Flame of the West” in Quenya, was made from the shards of Narsil, the sword wielded by Elendil. Narsil broke when Elendil fell fighting Sauron at the end of the Second Age, and Isildur used a shard to cut the One Ring from Sauron’s hand.
The sword was reforged for Aragorn before the Fellowship left Rivendell. Its reforging connects Aragorn to the kings of Gondor and Arnor and symbolizes his claim to the throne. In The Lord of the Rings, Aragorn carries Andúril during the later stages of the quest and the War of the Ring.
Glamdring belonged to Gandalf, Sting belonged to Bilbo and Frodo, and Orcrist was Thorin’s sword. They are distinct weapons with separate histories.
