What is Costco's well-known private-label brand?
Answer
Kirkland Signature
Answer
Kirkland Signature
Costco’s well-known private-label brand is Kirkland Signature.
The name comes from Kirkland, Washington, where Costco’s corporate headquarters were located when the brand launched in 1995. Kirkland Signature was created to offer quality comparable to national brands at lower prices, using Costco’s large purchasing volume and direct retail model.
The label appears on a remarkably broad range of products, including food, clothing, household supplies, appliances, wine and personal-care goods. Some products are made by outside manufacturers under confidential or co-branded arrangements, so “private label” does not necessarily mean Costco manufactures every item itself.
A common mix-up is assuming that Market Pantry, Great Value or Member’s Mark belongs to Costco. Market Pantry is associated with Target, Great Value with Walmart and Member’s Mark with Sam’s Club. Costco’s signature house brand is specifically Kirkland Signature.
