Alphabet’s life-sciences company originally known as Google Life Sciences is called Verily.
Google Life Sciences became a separate Alphabet subsidiary named Verily Life Sciences in 2015, when Google reorganized under the Alphabet holding company. Verily focuses on health technology, research, and data-driven approaches to medicine.
Its projects have included connected medical devices, health studies, and partnerships involving diabetes and other conditions. The company is distinct from Calico, another Alphabet company focused on aging and longevity research.
The name Verily is sometimes mixed up with Google Health, a Google division and collection of health-related initiatives. Verily is a standalone Alphabet company, while Google Health has referred to different internal and public-facing efforts over time.
