At the start of the 2007 thriller The Bourne Ultimatum, Jason Bourne has lost his memory. The film continues the story of a former secret agent trying to recover his identity and understand his past.
Bourne’s memory loss is connected to the events established in the earlier films The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy. After being shot during a failed mission, he suffers severe trauma and amnesia. Although he cannot remember his name or history at first, he gradually reconstructs his identity and discovers his connection to the CIA’s covert Treadstone program.
In The Bourne Ultimatum, Bourne is still pursued by intelligence agencies while investigating the origins of the program. His search leads him to journalist Simon Ross, classified records, and former agents who know how he was recruited and trained.
The answer is sometimes confused with Bourne losing his passport, money, or sense of identity during the opening sequence. Those details are part of his larger predicament, but the central thing he has lost is his memory. Matt Damon plays Bourne in the film, directed by Paul Greengrass.
