The film about the Firefly family being hunted by a vengeful cop is The Devil’s Rejects. Written and directed by Rob Zombie, the 2005 film follows the murderous family after Sheriff John Quincey Wydell launches a violent pursuit against them.

The movie is a sequel to Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses (2003). After a raid on the Firefly farmhouse, Otis B. Driftwood and Baby Firefly escape, while Captain Spaulding later reunites with them. Wydell’s motive is personal: his brother, Deputy George Wydell, was killed in the earlier film, and the sheriff becomes increasingly consumed by revenge.

Bill Moseley plays Otis, Sheri Moon Zombie plays Baby, Sid Haig plays Captain Spaulding, and William Forsythe plays Sheriff Wydell. Although it is often grouped with supernatural horror because of its predecessor, The Devil’s Rejects is primarily a brutal crime and road film, with a grim, western-influenced chase structure. The Firefly story later continued in 3 from Hell (2019).
