What fictional precursor organization to the Assassins appears in Assassin's Creed Origins?

The Hidden Ones are the fictional precursor organization to the Assassins in Assassin's Creed Origins.

Origins shows Bayek and Aya creating the Hidden Ones in first-century BCE Egypt. They form the group after confronting the Order of the Ancients, a secret organization whose members use political influence and violence to control Egypt and surrounding regions. The Hidden Ones adopt secrecy, hidden blades, coded communication, and a mission to protect people from oppressive control.

In the series' fictional history, the Hidden Ones gradually evolve into the Assassin Brotherhood known in later games. The name therefore describes an earlier stage of the organization rather than a separate unrelated faction.

The Order of the Ancients is the main opposing group in Origins and is presented as an ancestor of the Templar Order. This distinction is a common source of confusion: the Hidden Ones are the protagonists' organization, while the Order of the Ancients supplies their principal adversaries.
