Frodo Baggins carries the One Ring to Mount Doom in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.
The One Ring is the central object of Tolkien’s story. Sauron forged it in the fires of Mount Doom to control the other Rings of Power and extend his dominion over their bearers. Its destruction is possible only in the same volcanic fire where it was made.
Frodo inherits the Ring from Bilbo Baggins and eventually accepts the task of taking it to Mordor. The journey is difficult because the Ring exerts a corrupting influence and attracts the attention of Sauron’s servants. Samwise Gamgee helps Frodo during the final stage of the journey.
The One Ring is not the same as every other ring mentioned in Tolkien’s legendarium. Narya, for example, is one of the Three Rings of the Elves, while the Ring of Barahir is an heirloom associated with the House of Bëor and is not a Ring of Power.
