The female bounty hunter killed at the start of "Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones" is Zam Wesell.
Zam is a Clawdite, a species known for shapeshifting, and she is hired by the bounty hunter Jango Fett to assassinate Senator Padmé Amidala. She first uses explosive devices and then releases poisonous kouhuns into Padmé's apartment. After the attempt fails, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker chase her through Coruscant.
The Jedi capture Zam in a nightclub, but before she can identify her employer, Jango Fett kills her with a poison dart. The dart becomes a crucial clue: Obi-Wan traces it to the planet Kamino, where he discovers the secret clone army and meets Jango. Zam's brief appearance therefore launches the film's central investigation, connecting Padmé's attempted assassination to the creation of the Republic's clone forces.
