What does the goblin give to Legolas to convince him that Aragorn is dead? He gives Aragorn’s Evenstar pendant.

During the Warg attack in The Two Towers, Aragorn falls over a cliff and is presumed dead. The Orc captain Sharku claims that Aragorn died and holds up the pendant as evidence.

The Evenstar is a necklace associated with Arwen and Aragorn’s relationship. Legolas recognizes it, reacts angrily, and takes the pendant from the Orc’s hand.

Aragorn survives the fall and is later found by his horse, Brego. When he returns to Helm’s Deep, Legolas gives the recovered Evenstar back to him. “Elessar” or “Elfstone” is a different name connected with Aragorn’s royal identity, not the pendant used in this scene.
