What does Spider-Man shoot from his hands in "Spider-Man 3"?

The story behind the answer

Spider-Man shoots webs from his hands in “Spider-Man 3.” In Sam Raimi’s film trilogy, Peter Parker produces organic webbing from his wrists, allowing him to swing between buildings, restrain enemies, and create web-based attacks without visible mechanical web-shooters.

This differs from the original Marvel comics, where Peter Parker invents wrist-mounted web-shooters and fills them with synthetic web fluid. The Raimi films changed that detail: Peter’s spider bite grants him the ability to generate webbing biologically. That version remains consistent through Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004), and Spider-Man 3 (2007).

The wording “from his hands” is common trivia shorthand, although the webbing emerges near the wrists or palms rather than from the fingertips. The black symbiote suit in Spider-Man 3 does not replace the webs with a different projectile; Peter is still firing his familiar webbing. Other film versions, including The Amazing Spider-Man and the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man, generally return to the comic-book idea of artificial web-shooters, which is why viewers sometimes remember different explanations.
