What does "Mylo" mean in Sony Mylo?

The story behind the answer

In Sony Mylo, “Mylo” means “My Life Online.”

Sony introduced the Mylo as a small Wi-Fi communications device in 2006. Its name reflected the product’s purpose: keeping users connected through instant messaging, web browsing, and online media without relying on a conventional cellular phone connection.

The device used Wi-Fi rather than GSM, CDMA, or 3G mobile networks. It included a slide-up QWERTY keyboard and supported services such as messaging and the Opera web browser. Sony marketed it especially toward younger users who wanted portable online communication.

“Mylo” is therefore a branded acronym, not a reference to a person, a software platform, or the Greek letter traditionally spelled “mu.” Sony released a second-generation model, the Mylo COM-2, but the product line was discontinued by 2010 as smartphones became much more capable and widespread.
