You can find Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. It lies in the state’s northwestern corner, just south of Yellowstone National Park and north of the town of Jackson.

The park protects nearly 310,000 acres, including the dramatic Teton Range and Jackson Lake. Its namesake, Grand Teton, rises to 13,775 feet and is the range’s highest peak. The mountains formed through faulting and uplift, creating the sharp skyline that defines the region.

Grand Teton became a national park in 1929, although the protected area expanded substantially later through land acquisitions and donations. The park is part of the larger Greater Yellowstone ecosystem, one of the most significant wildlife regions in the contiguous United States, supporting elk, moose, bison, black bears, and grizzly bears.

A common mix-up is confusing Grand Teton with Yellowstone or assuming the Tetons are in Idaho. The Teton Range reaches toward Idaho, but Grand Teton National Park itself is entirely in Wyoming. Jackson Hole Airport, located inside the park, is also notable as the only commercial airport within a U.S. national park.
