Dragon's Den investor Peter Jones founded Phones International Group in 1998.

Phones International Group was a telecommunications business associated with mobile-phone distribution and services. Its creation helped establish Jones as a significant entrepreneur in the rapidly expanding mobile communications sector of the late 1990s.

The business is often confused with Carphone Warehouse because both operated in the mobile-phone market. They were separate companies, however, and Carphone Warehouse was founded by David Ross and Charles Dunstone.
