What color is the five-pointed star on Morocco's national flag?

The story behind the answer

The five-pointed star on Morocco’s national flag is green.

Morocco’s flag is a red field bearing a green pentagram, a five-pointed linear star, at its center. Sultan Yusef introduced the design by decree on 17 November 1915, while Morocco was under French and Spanish control. The red field has older dynastic associations: the Alawi dynasty, which has ruled Morocco since the 17th century, used red as a significant color.

The star is often called the Seal of Solomon and is formed by interlacing lines. Moroccan explanations commonly connect its five points with the five pillars of Islam. The legal description specifies bright red and palm green, although exact production shades can vary between materials and reproductions.

A common mix-up comes from historical and maritime variants. During the protectorate period, use of the red flag with the green star was restricted at sea, and Morocco also has naval, royal and military versions with additional details. The ordinary national flag, however, is simply the red field with the green central star.
