What city is The Wire set in?

The Wire is set in Baltimore, Maryland. The HBO crime drama uses the city as more than a backdrop: its neighborhoods, institutions, politics, ports, schools, police department, and newspaper shape the story.

Created by David Simon, a former Baltimore Sun police reporter, the series grew out of his knowledge of the city and its drug trade.
