On Dragon's Den, Rob Law pitched the children's ride-on suitcase Trunki.
Trunki is a hard-shell children's suitcase designed so children can sit on it and ride while travelling. Law developed the idea through his company Magmatic, which was founded in 1997 in the United Kingdom. The product was intended to make airport and travel journeys more manageable for families.
Law appeared on the BBC programme in 2006 and did not secure a deal from the investors. That outcome is often confused with the later commercial performance of the product: rejection on the programme did not prevent Trunki from becoming a successful retail brand.
Trunki cases became associated with distinctive animal-inspired shapes, carry handles and wheels. The brand later expanded beyond its original suitcase into travel accessories, but the ride-on suitcase remains its signature product.
