Answer
The Children’s Voice
J.K. Rowling supported The Children’s Voice by donating the handwritten manuscript of The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
In 2007, Rowling wrote and illustrated seven handmade copies of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Six were given to people closely connected with the Harry Potter books, while the seventh was auctioned by Sotheby’s for charity.
Amazon purchased the unique auction copy for £1.95 million in December 2007. The proceeds went to The Children’s Voice, a charity associated with the European children’s charity group Lumos. Rowling later published a commercial edition of the book in 2008, with royalties benefiting the same cause.
The collection is presented in the wizarding world as a set of fairy tales for young witches and wizards. One story, “The Tale of the Three Brothers,” is especially important in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because it explains the legend of the three Deathly Hallows.
