The UK business show Dragons' Den originally broadcast on BBC Two.
The programme is a British adaptation of an international business-investment format. Entrepreneurs present businesses to a panel of wealthy investors, known as Dragons, and seek funding in exchange for an ownership stake. The BBC placed the programme on BBC Two, where its combination of negotiation, business advice and dramatic offers quickly established a regular audience.
BBC Two is distinct from BBC One, the corporation's principal general-entertainment channel. Dragons' Den has remained associated with the BBC even as its presenters, investors and production arrangements have changed over time.
The programme is also separate from the American adaptation Shark Tank. Both formats descend from the Japanese television concept Money Tigers, but the British edition has its own investors, entrepreneurs and broadcast history.
