What award did Ricky Gervais win at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards?

Ricky Gervais won Best Stand-Up Comedy Performance at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.

His winning entry was Mortality, a stand-up comedy special built around Gervais’s characteristically observational and provocative style. The category recognizes a comedian’s performance in a stand-up special rather than an acting performance in a film or scripted television production.

The award was part of the Golden Globes’ expanded recognition of comedy programming. Unlike the traditional film and television categories, it focuses on a recorded stand-up performance and can include comedians working across streaming and broadcast platforms.

Gervais has a long association with the Golden Globes. He hosted the ceremony several times in earlier years, but his 2026 recognition was competitive rather than honorary. The award also differs from the ceremony’s podcast prize, which went to Good Hang With Amy Poehler.
